Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of the Monerai wings: The bonding of the wing skin can de-bond in some cases which could be caused by improper preparation of the aluminum surfaces. Pre-flight and condition inspections should locate this problem. Methods for repair are available. The wing Spar is designed with 3.5" lightening holes in the web along the span. Only one failure of the spar is known in which an overloaded and overstressed Monerai suffered spar failure resulting in a fatality. The wing has been tested statically to 6 G's before failing. Some advocate not cutting the lightening holes which would increase the weight of each wing by about 6 lbs.
